ERNEST MWAMWAJA

Ernest is one of the longest serving and most decorated professionals in the Tanzanian tourism industry today. He entered the tourism fraternity back in 2000 upon completion of his Wageningen’s MSc programme in Tourism, Leisure and Environments. His long career in public office started in 2003 when he was recruited as a Tourism Officer in MNRT. He served in the ministry for 7 years before joining SUA teaching staff in 2010. He spent 7 years as an academic at SUA taking on roles of a Lecturer, Researcher and Consultant in the fields of tourism and hospitality management. Between 2002 and 2017 Ernest worked as a part-timer lecturer for graduate and undergraduate tourism students in four other universities in the country. During this time he was responsible for over 40 different tourism courses.

Ernest’s experience as a moderator is equally extensive. He has moderated well over 20 professional conferences organised by a number organizations and ministries, including GIZ, USAID, WHO, SECO, MCDGC, MALF, MNRT and several academic institutions. As a Public Officer and an Academic, Ernest has made over 40 professional presentations in the fields of tourism and hospitality. Today Ernest works as a Director of Marketing at the Tanzania Tourist Board.
